4-8 At Least For One Day

at least for one day,
you,
said casually
to the romantic who
only heard,
at least for one day,
with strings, and words,
and an afternoon,
filled to the brim with champagne,
the wolf in your dance,
in your chest,
all that remains,
when you said,
at least for one day,
stay on the path,
and do not stray,
this is the house of September,
wrapped in a play
of sage and cotton,
lost to the blue-green sway,
of your words, cautioning me,
gypsy lover,
gypsy love,
at least for one day.
