12-10 Kindred (Introducing Mr. Champagne)

if you ask me why,
today I will lie to you,
and point at the sky,
remarking, on the way
the snow fell, twice,
while I divert your attention,
with talk about angels,
snowmaking men,
but,

if you ask me twice,
today, I will hesitate,
looking away from,
your smile that wants to be,
careful, but can't hide either,
from your soft ,
almost sunrise eyes,
while I divert your attention,
with talk about sisters,
soul-catching their mountains,
but,

if you ask me again,
today, you might hear,
in the after-silence,
the small hush of my heart,
watching you walk away,
the tiddly-pom of it's beat,
whispering to me,
while I divert my attention,
with the first notes,

of an almost-forgotten winter,
song.
